However, the risk with conventional solar potential analyses is that they only look at the roof itself, but not at what is already on the roof. Sometimes we see in aerial and satellite photos that roofs are already so full of cooling towers, dormers, skylights, chimneys and facade maintenance installations that there is hardly any room left for solar panels.

Many objects are already underground and you cannot see them either. There is also a big increase in new infrastructure being built, for example fibre optics and heat networks. Besides the fact that damage to cables and pipelines can occur when digging (for which the CROW 500 guideline 'Preventing damage to cables and pipelines' was recently drawn up), damage to the surroundings can also occur, such as trees.
NEO supported LSNED by monitoring a defined route of the pipeline route. Using aerial photos and satellite images, changes relevant to safety (e.g. ditches, embankments, vegetation) were inventoried. A validation was also performed on the pipeline furniture: is everything still present in the field and is the digital registration still correct? The current insights have been implemented in LSNed's management system.
