Dutch ditches have been the talk of the day in recent weeks. Because buffer strip width affects the manure placement space on a plot and depends on the ditch type (dry ditch with 1 metre buffer versus 3 metres for an aquifer ditch), map information must be reliable. NEO uses current earth observation data to improve map information of ditches.
Updating map objects is labour-intensive and precise work. So is detecting and interpreting the changes, but very different in nature. It is then smart to perform change detection and interpretation in a separate action. In Solar Panels on the Map, NEO again monitored the whole of the Netherlands for solar panels via satellite photos last year. We see an increase of 40% compared to 2021.
