What is the green-blue veining, and what types of elements can be found there?
The unique Dutch landscape is under pressure. This has negative consequences for cultural value, biodiversity and CO2 storage.
Ongoing initiatives to enhance the landscape lack good information on the status of the landscape in the Netherlands.
NEO, in collaboration with the Cooperative Tree Registry, therefore launched the landscapeelementsregister.co.uk launched. We map woody stands such as wooded banks, copses and solitary trees, as well as elements with herbaceous and shrub vegetation on road verges and plot edges.
Blue landscape elements can include ditches, riparian zones, reedbeds and pools.
From 'Landscape in Focus', a project subsidised by Opportunities for West, NEO is developing parts of the new Landscape Elements Register. In addition to financial support from the European Union (ERDF contribution), the project receives co-financing from the state. Read more about Opportunities for West here bit.ly/3toa1vk.
