Housing associations have an important role to play in the energy transition. Increasing sustainability is necessary and politicians are also calling on housing associations. Of course, this comes at a price. One way to reduce the cost is to use it effectively.
Getting a good data system in order is an important first step; in order to determine what action to take, it is first necessary to know what the current state of affairs is. With this, targeted action can be taken.
On which roofs are solar panels currently already installed? Where is there still space and what is the remaining potential there? Which roofs will need to be replaced in the near future due to age or visible damage? Are there gardens that can be greened to reduce urban heat and thus energy consumption? NEO has set up several data services that provide answers to these questions. Those answers contribute to sound decisions around sustainability measures.
Solar panels on the map is one of NEO's services. In this service, solar panels are monitored at least four times a year with up-to-date aerial and satellite photos. The data is enriched with power and location data. In this way, Solar Panels on the Map is not only designed to provide content for the energy transition, but also to be easy to use. Data is collected at a high level of detail and the user can request numbers per individual installation, address, plot, neighbourhood, district or municipality. By gaining insight into locations, numbers and capacities, you as a housing association can decide what to do in the future and where the opportunities lie.
