NEO supported LSNED by monitoring a defined route of the pipeline route. Using aerial photos and satellite images, changes relevant to safety (e.g. ditches, embankments, vegetation) were inventoried. A validation was also performed on the pipeline furniture: is everything still present in the field and is the digital registration still correct? The current insights have been implemented in LSNed's management system.
The service helps LSNED by providing additional insights into what can be seen during on-site inspections. It also allows more targeted work and savings on on-site inspections and reduces execution risk.
With over 1,400 kilometres of transport pipelines and some 5,000 kilometres of cables, the pipeline network plays a major role in sustainable underground transport and thereby energy transition in the Netherlands.
