One of the effects of Covid is that we are working more from home and meeting less. This prompted NEO to organise an on-line session on the topic of pipeline management and the role of geo-information. Geo-information has always played an important role in the practice of pipeline operators, but certainly also as a result of the challenges of energy transition, the new environmental law, etc. The session provides another opportunity to share experiences and insights beyond one's own organisation (and home office).
Several pipeline operators participated in the session at the end of June. Experiences were shared regarding approaches to e.g. coverage analyses, field inspections, differences and similarities in approaches between organisations and often common challenges, such as the Environment Act and transition to the External Safety Risk Register (REV).
At the end of the session, time was up, but not yet the discussion material. Partly as a result of the positive response, there are therefore plans to organise a follow-up session later in the year.
