Following the successful development of Earth Observation (AO) based country-wide information services and the recent launch of the SignalEyes platform for this purpose, we have launched a new innovation project called SINERGI as of 1 August. SINERGI stands for Semantic Integration for Next level EO-based Rich Geo Information Services, and is about taking AO-based information services to the next level.
Using only Earth observation helps provide actionable insights for many applications, and with more and better AO data, we now manage to provide a very large number of services. But even when using the latest very high-resolution imagery, there is a lack of validation or additional context for some applications. By using existing quality-controlled (open) data such as crowdsourced observations, official texts like permits, and text from social media, we can add significant value to AO-derived information in e.g. urgency, context and implications.
The SINERGI project is supported by Netherlands Space Office and the European Space Agency ESA through the InCubed (Investing in Industrial Innovation) incentive programme.
