Trainee at NEO - Daan van Dijk and Lars Groeneveld

 Daan van Dijk

My name is Daan van Dijk and I started my internship at NEO at the beginning of April. I am a 2nd year master student at the Free University in Amsterdam, where I study Earth and Climate. Since my bachelor thesis, I have mostly focused on research in which Remote Sensing is an important part. To develop myself further in this area, and because the working environment and colleagues really appeal to me, I have chosen to do an internship at NEO. During my internship, I will be working on segmentation of radar images in particular for grasslands. I am very much looking forward to being part of this project and hope that my input can help achieve an optimal outcome.

 Lars Groeneveld

My name is Lars Groeneveld and I will be doing my internship at NEO for the next 3 months. I am currently working on my master's degree in Earth, Surface and Water at Utrecht University. I just finished my master thesis in which I looked at developing exposure assessments for air pollution and 'greenness' on a global scale. During my internship, I will be working on classifying trees using LiDAR data and aerial photos using machine learning techniques. I hope we can all visit the office before the end of my internship.
