Trainee at NEO: Paul Harrison

Hi, my name is Paul Harrison, I am studying geography and natural hazards at the University of Coventry (in the UK) and from September to December 2021 I am doing an internship at NEO. As part of my course, I have been studying earth observation techniques and spatial data analysis methods with different software packages. The growing importance of the field of geomatics, and the insights offered by spatial analyses, convinced me of the value of learning more about earth observation and wanting to work in this industry.

I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to put these lessons into practice during my internship. I have worked on several projects, including using artificial intelligence to classify vegetation and point out changes to buildings. I have also been involved in analysing calibration and validation data for the purpose of change detection within land use, from detection of agricultural crop harvests to recognition of new construction projects. I was able to work with various methods, such as NEO's proprietary SignalEyes system, which I used for monitoring stem positions and crowns of trees, and high-resolution aerial photos for change detection.

We care about our planet, which is why we keep a close eye...

NEO captures objects from above and monitors changes smartly and accurately. In doing so, we create data and insights that directly contribute to your challenge.

Curious what that will bring you?
