Trainee at NEO: Emile Nieuwstraten

I am Emile Nieuwstraten, master's student at Utrecht University, and since the beginning of August an intern at NEO! In my masters in Earth Surface & Water, I am following the direction Geohazards & Earth Observation, so I have already been observing the Earth's surface and the processes taking place here a lot. For example, for my master's thesis I used drone imagery to map part of the Greenland ice sheet, with the aim of improving melting models.

I find it fascinating that the earth can be monitored so well these days and would like to do my bit.
At NEO, I will deal with cloud shadow mapping using cloud polygons, cloud height and sun and satellite angles of incidence.
In my personal life, I am heavily involved in sports (including football and beach volleyball), music and (analogue) photography.

We care about our planet, which is why we keep a close eye...

NEO captures objects from above and monitors changes smartly and accurately. In doing so, we create data and insights that directly contribute to your challenge.

Curious what that will bring you?
